Atlea and Beyond
The Death of the Raven Queen
During the year 1480 of the Seventh Age, Vecna, the evil god of necromancy and secrets murdered the Raven Queen. In order to get the power to do this, he obtained a number of the gems of Tharizdun by holding the final corner tree, Fern, hostage. The Void threatened the destruction of the Feywild and Fern’s power was needed to stop its advance. The Divine Concordat had no choice but to reliquish the gems of Tharizdun they had collected to Vecna in exchange for saving the Feywild. But what happened next, nobody could have anticipated. Vecna forged a weapon from the gems he had collected. A weapon powerful enough to kill a goddess. Vecna and his army of the dead laid waste as they advanced to Fate’s Palace in Letherna, then he finally faced the Raven Queen in combat. Vecna stole her power when she was dead, becoming the new God of Death. Fearing swift retribution from the other gods, he quickly went into hiding. His newfound power over death itself was soon used to resurrect the dead across all planes at once using Seven, a halfling rogue who he had ensured would become his weapon. Creatures on every plane of existence desperately scrambled to stop the inexorably advancing waves of the dead.
